Step 1 involves rotating the side magnet attachment, followed by the installation of the powerhead into the ball joint. In Step 2, the powerhead is placed into the tank, positioned close to the tank wall. The magnet is designed to securely hold on to tank walls ranging from 4 to 10 millimeters in thickness. Finally, in Step 3, the magnetic holder is slowly slid into place, ensuring the glass is not directly overlapped to prevent breakage. This unit can be easily moved around during operation without requiring the user to put their hand into the aquarium water, though caution is advised when installing to avoid finger injuries.

The Wave Pump can be placed in different locations to cater to various needs. Positioning it near the water surface creates a surge current, which adds oxygen to the water, helping fish thrive. Alternatively, placing the pump within the tank provides a natural current for corals and gives fish additional exercise, while also circulating the water for even heating. Adjusting the powerhead downward allows the water flow to blow up debris accumulated in the gravel, which is then efficiently sucked into the filter.

The 360-degree rotatable ball joint design of the Wave Maker allows for easy adjustment of the water current direction, helping to maintain a clean tank by reducing dead corners. This versatile unit offers three key functionalities: circulation, oxygenation, and efficient filtration.
